1. Find an appropriate location for the interview so we do not get disturbed.
2. Make sure i have all of the things i need before hand like; a pen, paper, and my computer to record interview.
3. Make the person feel comfortable so they are not nervous.
4. Learn about their country of origin.
5.Find out their major and why they chose it.
6. Speak clearly so that the person can easily understand me.
7. Learn some interesting things about the person.
8. Go over interview and make sure that i got what i wanted out of it.
9.Write up a paper of the interview, and answers to my original questions.

Like melanie said be more specific in your objectives. For example, How do you plan on learning more about their country of origin?

Well, it looks like a casual interview to me as you are trying to focus on making the interviewee comfortable which is good in a way. On the other hand, you could focus more on their education system back home or the political system. Also, you could ask about their values and perspective about life.

You should be more specific about both the preparation and informatioan you want find of the interview.

ReplyDeleteI like objective number 1, the interview should not seem like it is work for the interviewee, just make it look like you guys have a conversation so he/she can answer the questions clearly.

ReplyDeleteHow are you going to learn about their country of origin? Maybe you can google it before you meet your interviewee so that you could ask him/her more detail questions. :)
ReplyDeleteYour objectives reflect some of the basic things necessary during the interview, but you may want to expand them and include details on your preparation for the interview as well as the required material for after the interview, such as creating a transcription.

ReplyDeleteI like the 5th it will be good to go away from the questions for a bit and learn something interesting about your interviewee, yet I believe you should include some objectives on how you will prepare for the interview.
